Content-Based Literacy
Curriculum EL Education is unique in its instructional approach in that it focuses on teaching content rather than teaching
comprehension skills in isolation. Students dive deeply into a topic, building their literacy skills by reading,
writing, and discussing several types of texts across content areas and disciplines. Through this process, they
build knowledge, make meaning of a text, and acquire critical vocabulary skills.
